Mahakumbh Mela stampede over 10 trains of Bihar are cancelled to reduce crowds at Prayagraj.

Patna January 29, 2025: The stampede at the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj has led to significant disruptions in train services, particularly affecting pilgrims traveling from Bihar on Wednesday.

Many trains from Patna Junction to Prayagraj, including superfast expresses like Bhagalpur Anand Vihar Vikramshila Express (12367), Raxaul Mumbai Express (05557), Danapur Sigaria Garib rath Express (09820), Baba Baidyanathdham Deoghar Super Fast Express (22465), Patna Anand Special Express (03255, Muzaffarpur Pune AC Express (05289), Brahmaputra Mail (15658), Danapur Bengaluru Express (06510), and Muzaffarpur Secunderabad Special Express (05393), have been cancelled. Additionally, two Kumbh special trains originating from Patna Junction have also been cancelled.

Devotees are facing inconvenience to go to Mahakumbh Mela:

This situation has caused considerable inconvenience to devotees who travelled from distant districts of Bihar to Patna Junction, only to find their trains cancelled. Reports indicate that no help desk has been established at Patna Junction to assist Mahakumbh Mela passengers, exacerbating their difficulties.

“I came from Madhepura with a group of women to go to Prayagraj to take a holy dip in the Mahakumbh Mela. After reaching Patna Junction, we learned many trains had been cancelled. We are looking for Magadh Express to board in,” said Sangeeta Devi, a resident of Madhepura.

Another woman, Meena Devi said, there is no proper counter or help desk at Patna Junction to get information about the cancelled trains. The East Central Railway has not given prior warning about the cancellation of trains.

The Mahakunbh Mela 2025 commenced on January 13 and is scheduled to continue until February 26, with key bathing dates attracting millions of pilgrims.

In light of the stampede, the Indian railways have cancelled several trains heading towards Prayagraj to manage the situation and ensure safety. Passengers are advised to check the latest train schedules and cancellations before planning their journey.

It’s also recommended to reach out to railway authorities for assistance and stay updated through official channels to avoid further inconvenience.
