Patna police initiated Lathi Charge on the Guest teachers in Patna
Patna June 24: Patna police initiated the Lathi charge on the thousands of guest teachers after they protested on Bailey Road on Monday afternoon.
The guest teachers were demanding reinstatement in the education department. They assembled near the Patna Zoo located on Bailey Road Patna. Officials said that they were trying to advance toward adjoining Raj Bhawan and CM’s residence.
“They were protesting near Patna Zoo on Bailey Road, which is wrong. The administration first warned them to vacate this place. When they did not move, a mild Lathi charge was used. No one is reported to have been seriously injured in this incident,” said YH Khan, the duty magistrate.
“We were protesting at the Beiley Road when the Patna suddenly arrived and initiated Lathi charge without any warning. The majority of the guest teachers were associated with the education department for 15 to 20 years. Now we have age around 50. How would we get the job at this age?” said Shanti Lal Singh, a protester.
The Bihar government has removed the guest teachers from their jobs and appointed new teachers who have passed the BPSC examination. The DM office of the respective districts issued the order to remove guest teachers. After that, guest teachers are continuously demanding to be reinstated.
Around 4200 guest teachers in Bihar lost their jobs. They used to teach students in 10 + 2 schools.
