Lalu Prasad Yadav turned 78 on Wednesday, RJD is celebrating his birthday as social justice and goodwill day.

Patna, June 11, 2025: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) celebrated the 78th birthday of its supermo, Lalu Prasad Yadav, with grandeur and fervor on Wednesday.

Cake with a sword, surrounded by his entire family and party supporters.

A massive crowd gathered in Patna to mark the occasion, with tremendous enthusiasm witnessed among RJD workers and leaders.

The event was attended by all senior party members, including Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, Misa Bharti, and several MLAs, MPs, and senior leaders.

The RJD declared this occasion “Social Justice and Goodwill Day”, turning Lalu Yadav’s birthday into a day of service and public outreach.

Across Bihar and beyond, RJD cadres engaged in food distribution, donation of educational material to children, and tree plantation drives, especially in Dalit, Mahadalit, minority, and other deprived communities.

Lalu Yadav birthday celebrations beyond Bihar:

In the national capital, Delhi, the student wing of RJD organized a special celebration at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Student leaders put up posters describing Lalu Prasad Yadav as the “voice of the voiceless” and “supporters of the helpless.”

They hailed him not only as a political figure but as a symbol of social justice and resistance.

A legacy of social change:

Born on June 11, 1947, in Fulwari village of Gopalganj district, Lalu Prasad Yadav has held prominent opposition including the Chief Minister of Bihar and Union Railway Minister.

He is credited with reshaping Indian politics by implementing the Mandal Commission recommendations, which empowered backward and marginalized communities.

Today, Lalu Prasad Yadav remains a symbol of hope and resistance for millions of youth and the backward classes in India.

Warm wishes from political leaders:

His son and RJD’s key face Tejashwi Yadav, posted an emotional message on social media.

Papa, you have taught us struggle, dedication, and the importance of raising our voice for the poor. Your teachings are our greatest asset,” Tejashwi said.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also extended birthday wishes, saying:

Our relationship is more than political it’s a deep human bond built on shared struggles for social justice. You have always raised your voice for the unheard. I wish you good   health and a long life.’’

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary offered his greetings too.

“Hearty congratulations and best wishes to former Bihar CM and Union Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav ji.

I pray to God for your good health and longevity.”
