Kumar Ravi Inspects the construction of International Cricket Stadium at Rajgir having 40,000 capacities.

Patna December 30, 2024: Kumar Ravi, the Secretary of the Building Construction Department, Bihar, visited the site of the International Cricket Stadium in Rajgir to inspect the ongoing construction work on Monday.

During the visit, he reviewed the physical progress of the stadium and gathered updates on its development.

Kumar Ravi discussed various aspects of Cricket Stadium:

Ravi held detailed discussions on various aspects of the project including the cricket pitch, lighting, drainage system, pavilion, spectator seating, dressing rooms, display screens, parking and toilets.

Kumar Ravi gave directives to the concerned officials and agencies to accelerate the work.

He also engaged in a conversation with the curator of the Bihar Cricket Association present at the site to discuss the preparation of the cricket pitch.

The curator informed Ravi that the Rajgir Cricket Stadium would be capable of hosting nine full-sized cricket pitches, in addition to four to five practice pitches for players. Ravi mentioned that the BCCI’s curator would be contacted to ensure the preparation of a pitch that meets international standards.

Kumar Ravi directed the agency to expedite construction works:

The maintenance of the stadium was also discussed during the inspection. Kumar Ravi instructed the agency to increase its workforce in order to expedite the construction process.

“The work is progressing rapidly to make the Rajgir Cricket Stadium world-class. We are coordinating with the BCCI and other stakeholders. Our target is to complete the stadium’s structural work by March next year, and the stadium will be ready for matches by June 2025,” Ravi stated.

The construction of the cricket stadium is being carried out according to international standards, with weekly inspections in place. The state-of-the-art facility is being built on a 72,843-square-meter plot and will have seating arrangements for 40,000 spectators.

Kumar Ravi reviews the progress of the multipurpose hall and sports infrastructure in Rajgir:

Kumar Ravi, after reviewing the progress of the International Cricket Stadium,  turned his attention to the construction of the multipurpose hall at the Rajgir Sports Academy, which will host international events such as the Kabaddi World Cup, Khelo India Youth Games, and Para Games in 2025.

The World Cup Kabaddi Championship is scheduled for March 2025, with teams from around the globe set to compete.

Ravi instructed the construction team to ensure that the multipurpose hall is ready by February 15, 2025. He emphasized the need to increase the workforce to meet this deadline and directed the officials to hold daily review meetings to ensure timely completion.

The multipurpose hall is planned to host 5-6 sports events, including Kabaddi, and will be a central venue for the upcoming games. Ravi also took the opportunity to inspect other sports facilities, including the swimming pool, cycling track, and additional venues at the Rajgir Sports Academy. Recently, the women’s hockey championship was held in Rajgir. He stressed the importance of completing all sports-related infrastructure at an expedited pace.

Kumar Ravi encouraged athletes present in the sports academy:

“The development of sports infrastructure in Bihar will inspire the younger generation to take up sports. With these world-class facilities, the youth will be able to receive quality training at the local level. We are prioritizing the development of sports infrastructure,” Ravi remarked.

During his visit, the Secretary also met with various athletes currently training at the Rajgir Sports Academy. He encouraged the players and wished them success in their future endeavours.

The inspection was attended by Bihar State Sports Authority Director General Ravindra Shankaran, Sports Department Director Mahendra Kumar, Nalanda District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar, and senior officials and engineers from the Building Construction Department.
