Patna, October 8, 2025: Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Bihar election deputy in-charge Keshav Prasad Maurya on Wednesday said that the BJP parliamentary Board will take the final decision on the names of candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.
A high-level meeting was held at the BJP state headquarters in Patna, attended by senior leaders including MoS Home Nityanand Rai, Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh, Vinod Tawre, BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, among others.
Keshav Prasad Maurya said that detailed discussions were held on the names of potential candidates from each constituency, and the final list will be sent to the party’s Parliamentary Board for approval.
Keshav Prasad Maurya claimed that every NDA ally is happy:
When asked about the status of the NDA alliance, Keshav Prasad Maurya said, “Every constituent partner is happy. The NDA is united, and we will win the Bihar election. There is a wave in favour of the NDA in Bihar.”
His remarks come amid growing discontent among NDA allies, particularly Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas chief Chirag Paswan and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) patron Jitan Ram Manjhi, over seat-sharing arrangements.
Sources have said that Chirag Paswan is seeking around 40 seats, while Jitan Ram Manjhi had demanded 15 seats for his party.
Jitan Ram Manjhi expressed displeasure over seat-sharing:
Manjhi has warned that Ham may reconsider contesting the election if its demands are not met.
He also pointed out that in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, HAM had a strike rate of 60%, and if allotted 15 seats, it could win 8 to 9 seats, potentially earning the status of a regional party.
Manjhi further expressed disappointment that the poll body did not invite HAM to an all-party meeting recently, citing its lack of official recognition as a regional party despite having four MLAs, one MLC, and one Lok Sabha MP.
