Kanhaiya Kumar, 20 Congress leaders detained amid ‘Palayan Roko, Naukri Do’ protest in Patna.

Patna April 11, 2025: In a dramatic turn of events, Patna Police detained around 20 Congress leaders, including prominent youth leader Kanhaiya Kumar, during the ongoing ‘Palayan Roko, Naukri Do’ Padayatra in the state capital Patna on Friday.

The protest march, organized to highlight issues of youth unemployment and government apathy, began at Sadaqat Ashram and proceeded towards Rajapur Pul, intending to move further through Hartali Mod and Bailey Road to reach Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s residence at 1 Anne Marg.

Kanhaiya Kumar and other Congressmen were detained near Rajapur Pul:

As the March neared Rajapur Pul, police forces intervened, leading to a confrontation. Despite initial attempts to disperse the crowd using water cannons, the protestors continued to push forward.

A scuffle ensued, prompting police to detain the protestors.

“We have detained around 20 persons including Kanhaiya Kumar and taken them to Koywali police station for legal proceedings,” said Krishna Murari, DSP ( Law & Order), Central Patna.

Despite the detentions, several Congress workers continued the protest, attempting to reach the Chief Minister’s residence. Heavy police presence remains across key locations in the city, and tensions are high.

Sachin Pilot criticized Central and state governments:

Earlier in the day, former Rajasthan Deputy CM and Senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot arrived in Patna to lend support to the Padayatra.

He marched with Kanhaiya Kumar and addressed the media, criticizing both state and central governments for what he termed as a “betrayal of youth” due to frequent paper leaks, flawed recruitment processes, and lack of job opportunities.

“We are here to demand accountability and justice for the youth whose dreams have been repeatedly dashed. The Congress party stands firmly with them,” Pilot said.

As the situation continues to unfold, Patna remains on edge with ongoing demonstrations and a standoff between the police and Congress supporters determined to take their demands to the gates of power.
