Patna, June 5, 2024: As JDU Chief Nitish Kumar emerged as a kingmaker at the Centre following the Lok Sabha election results, a fresh poster featuring both Nitish Kumar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi appeared near the Maurya Lok Complex in central Patna on Wednesday.

JDU worker Sona Singh installed the posters of Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi:

The poster congratulates Narendra Modi on forming the government for the third consecutive time, with Nitish Kumar’s photograph placed alongside him. It was put up by JDU worker Sona Singh, who had earlier installed similar posters.

Carrying the message “Double engine government, double speed—Modi government again for the third time. Congratulations to Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar for a hat-trick,” the poster reflects the upbeat mood inside the JDU camp after the June 4 results.

With the NDA securing a majority but the BJP falling short of a single-party majority, Nitish Kumar’s political relevance has once again come into sharp focus. Many within the JDU believe the election outcome has silenced doubts about his influence in state and national politics.

JDU MLC Neeraj Kumar echoed this sentiment, saying, “People may love or hate Nitish Kumar, but you cannot deny him. His relevance in national politics is still intact. How could anyone deny him?”

Currently aligned with the NDA, Nitish Kumar is also being courted by the INDIA bloc. With both alliances keeping a close watch on him, political observers say the NDA has little choice but to accommodate Nitish Kumar’s terms, given the numbers.

In this post-election scenario, Nitish Kumar once again stands at the centre of national political calculations.
