Jan Suraj Party delegation meets the Election Commission questions the voter list revision.

Patna, July 8, 2025: A delegation of Jan Suraj Party leaders led by national president Uday Singh met the Election Commission on Monday, expressing concerns over the ongoing revision of the voter list ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections and seeking clarity on the process.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Uday Singh said that among the 11 documents sought by the Election Commission, some are difficult for ordinary citizens to provide. However, he added, “If everyone makes an effort, this does not appear to be as big a problem as it seemed earlier.”

He further criticized the Election Commission, stating:

“The Election Commission has compromised its independence to a great extent and is functioning like a department of the BJP. The public’s trust in it is slowly diminishing.”

Jan Suraj Party national president questioned the timing of the SIR implementation:

Uday Singh questioned the timing of the intensive voter list review just 2-3 months before the elections, saying there is no process so close to polling. He added that the party hopes the Supreme Court will provide clarity on the issue within the next few days, bringing an end to the ongoing controversy.

State president Manoj Bharti, state general secretary Kishore Kumar Munna, and former Union Minister R.C.P. Singh accompanied Uday Singh during the meeting with the Election Commission.

Prashant Kishor attacks Modi government: Meanwhile, Prashant Kishor, the architect of the Jan Suraj Party, launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the voter list revision process.

“There is no trust in the voter list through which Narendra Modi was elected as PM. The government wants to remove the names of poor migrant workers from the voter list so that they cannot vote against it in the elections,” Kishor said.

The remarks come as the voter list revision ahead of the Bihar assembly polls has turned into a major political issue, with opposition parties, including the Grand Alliance that the process may lead to the disenfranchisement of migrant and economically weaker voters.
