Patna. July 19, 2025: An important meeting of the INDIA alliance (Grand alliance) is being held in Delhi today at the residence of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, focusing on strategy for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list.
Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav will attend the meeting along with other prominent leaders of the alliance, including Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru, and representatives from all constituent parties of the Grand Alliance.
Seat-sharing formula could be the main agenda of the India Alliance meeting:
This meeting is significant as it marks the first formal discussion on seat-sharing among alliance partners for the Bihar elections, with sources indicating that leaders will work towards a consensus-based formula to avoid disagreements before polls.
The agenda includes formulating a strategy to corner the central government during the upcoming monsoon session on issues like unemployment, inflation, women’s safety, Pegasus, farm policies, and Manipur.

Discussing the Special Voter Revision Campaign (SIR) in Bihar, with opposition leaders alleging that the drive is being used to delete 12-15% of voters, calling it an attack on democratic rights and an attempt to influence the upcoming elections.
Strengthening pre-election coordination, building upon the April 15 INDIA alliance meeting, where a Coordination Committee was formed at Kharge’s residence.
India Alliance leaders are also targeting the Election Commission on SIR:
Opposition parties have accused the Election Commission of tampering with the spirit of the Constitution in the name of voter list revision, alleging that the SIR process is politically motivated.

Political analysts believe that discussions on SIR could extend beyond Bihar, with the ECI indicating similar drives may be launched in other states, making today’s meeting strategically significant for national opposition planning.
