IIT Roorkee to host Cognizance 2026 from March 13-15.

Uttarakhand, March 12, 2026: The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) will host Cognizance 2026, its flagship annual technical festival, from March 13 to March 15, 2026.

The three-day event will bring together thousands of young innovators, technologists and creative thinkers from across India for a large-scale celebration of innovation, competition and collaboration.

 Widely regarded as Asia’s second largest technical festival, Cognizance has become a major platform for technological exploration, interdisciplinary learning and innovation-driven competition.

IIT Roorkee’s theme Empyrean Technogenesis:

The 2026 edition is themed “Empyrean Technogenesis,” highlighting the transformative role of technology in shaping the future of society.

 The festival is expected to attract over 25,000 participants from more than 3,000 colleges, giving students the opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies and real-world innovation challenges.

Organized entirely by students of IIT Roorkee, the festival has grown into one of Asia’s largest student-driven technical events, fostering creativity, innovation and technological excellence.

Competitions and prize pool: Cognizance 2026 will feature more than 50 competitions and technical events, including flagship contests such as Armageddon, Flight Fury, Scythe CTF, and InnovWave.

These competitions are designed to test participants’ engineering skills, creativity and problem-solving abilities.

 The festival will offer an overall prize pool exceeding Rs 50 lakh, encouraging young innovators to push technological boundaries.

Industry workshops and collaborations:

The event will host over 15 industry-led workshops and expert sessions conducted by major companies, including Microsoft, Myntra, Meesho, and American Express.

These sessions aim to provide participants with exposure to emerging technologies, industry trends and entrepreneurial opportunities.

The festival is also supported by prominent partners and initiatives such as Make in India, Skill India, HiLabs, JioSaavn, The Coca-Cola Company, and BenQ. This collaboration reflects strong industry-academia partnerships.

Beyond technology competitions, the festival will also promote social responsibility and community engagement, raising awareness about environmental sustainability, menstrual health, and rural education.

Participants will be encouraged to use technology for positive societal impact.

Director of IIT Roorkee Kamal Kishore Pant said Cognizance reflects the institute’s spirit of innovation and technological excellence.

Pro-nights and cultural events:

Apart from technical activities, the festival will also feature high-energy Pro-Night performances. Previous editions have hosted well-known artists such as Jubin Nautiyal, Amit Trivedi, Mohit Chauhan, and Guru Randhawa.
