Hundreds of BPSC candidates protested for the cancellation of the 70th PT exam in Patna.

Patna January 30, 2025: Despite the announcement of the 70th BPSC PT exam results, protesting candidates remain firm in their demand for its cancellation.
On Thursday, hundreds of aspirants blocked Bailey Road in front of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) office, leading to severe traffic congestion.
BPSC candidates caused severe inconvenience to the public:
The protest caused long vehicle queues on the main road, significantly affecting commuters, including schoolchildren from Kendriya Vidyalaya (Sheikhpura) and their parents. The situation worsened on the flyover near the commission, where stranded individuals were seen manoeuvring their bikes down the stairs to escape the jam.
The police have been deployed in large numbers to control the situation, with water cannons and fire brigade vehicles on standby. The administration is actively trying to pacify the protesters, but if they refuse to disperse. There was also a scuffle between protestors and district police. Some of the agitating candidates were detained by Patna police.
The protestors had planned to continue agitation:
Earlier on Wednesday, a group of agitating candidates at Gardanibagh announced to start of a protest against BPSC from Thursday.
As per the pre-scheduled plan, they reached Bailey Road and headed towards the BPSC office for the demonstration.
They had already mobilized support, by visiting coaching hubs in Musallahpur Haat, Bhikhana Pahadi, Annie Besant Road, and other areas, urging students to participate in large numbers. Additionally, they are reaching out to students across various districts of Bihar to strengthen their movement.
Since December 18, 2024, agitating candidates have been staging a dharna (Sit-in protest) at Gardanibagh, calling their movement “Shiksha Satyagraha” in the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi’s nonviolent resistance.
Candidates are also questioning the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC)’s decision to release the exam results despite the matter being under judicial review. They allege that the commission acted in haste, disregarding students’ grievances and the pending court verdict.
A day after the protest, the Patna High Court will hear the case on January 31.
