Governor Arif Mohammad Khan claimed Bihar has a glorious history.

Patna December 30, 2024: Arif Mohammad Khan, the newly appointed Governor of Bihar, acknowledged the state’s rich cultural and historical legacy and expressed his commitment to honour it during his tenure.

“Bihar has a glorious history, and I will fully strive to uphold its traditions, culture, and heritage as the Governor of Bihar,” Khan said.

Arif Mohammad Khan was given the guard of honour:

Khan arrived in Patna on Monday afternoon. Where he was welcomed by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Vijay Kumar Sinha, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Sunil Kumar, and other distinguished dignitaries of the Bihar government. Upon his arrival, he was accorded a guard of honour at Patna Airport.

Arif Mohammad Khan replaces Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who has been appointed as the Governor of Kerala.

Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar’s Tenure in Bihar:

Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar served as the Governor of Bihar for one year and 322 days. His tenure witnessed significant milestones, including the formation of the NDA government in January this year. During this time, Nitish Kumar was sworn in as Chief Minister, followed by the expansion of his cabinet.

Arlekar’s tenure was marked by several key decisions related to the state’s universities, with a particular emphasis on maintaining regular academic sessions.

Nationwide Changes in Governors on December 24:

On December 24, the central government reshuffled the governors of several states, including Bihar.

Arif Mohammad Khan, previously the Governor of Kerala, was appointed as the new Governor of Bihar.

Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, the outgoing Governor of Bihar, was reassigned to Kerala. General Vijay Kumar Singh was named the Governor of Mizoram. Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati was appointed as the Governor of Odisha. Ajay Kumar Bhalla took over as the Governor of Manipur.

President Draupadi Murmu also accepted the resignation of Raghubar Das from the position of Governor of Odisha. Former Army Chief VK Singh was appointed as the Governor of Manipur.
