Five persons died due to lightning strikes in Gaya.
Patna August 1: Five persons lost their lives and three others were critically injured due to lighting strikes in Bihar’s Gaya district on Thursday.
The incident occurred at Panari village under Belaganj block in the district.
The deceased are identified as Jitendra Dangi, his wide Meena Devi, Shankar Ram, Kapil Yadav and Bali Bhagat. The injured individuals Raju Kumar, Moti Prajapati and Mote Bhagat were admitted to a primary health center in Belaganj and their conditions are said to be critical.
The victims were engaged in paddy farming in their agriculture field when the rain began to fall. They immediately moved inside a motor machine room. Five of them were sat on the floor and three others on the wooden bed.
When lightning struck the location, Instantly killing those on the floor and injuring individuals on the bed.
“Five persons unfortunately died due to lightning strikes in Panari village. We have asked the block development officer, Subdivisional officer, SHO and medical team to reach the village. I want to appeal to the people to stay alert and adhere to the warning of the meteorological department,” said Tyagarajan SM, the district magistrate of Gaya.
