Extension centres approved by the MSME ministry to boost technological growth in 5 districts.

Patna November 29, 2024: The Union MSME has taken a significant step to boost industrial and technological growth in Bihar by Approving five new Extension Centres under the Establishment of New Technology Centre/Extension Centres scheme.

This approval was formalized in a letter from the Office of the Development Commissioner, MSME, dated November 29, 2024.

Locations for Extension Centres:

The new Extension Centres will be set up in districts such as Saran, Darbhanga, Rohtas, Rajgir (Nalanda) and Purnea.

These centres will operate under the purview of a mother Technology Centre ‘which will be established in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, facilitating advanced technological support and training for the industries in Bihar.

Union MSME Minister’s Remarks on the extension centres:

Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi expressed confidence in Bihar’s transformation under the leadership of the NDA government, stating,” Our ministry has approved the extension centres in Bihar.

Besides, we have also urged the Bihar government to provide 20 acres of land in Gaya for the earlier approved Technology Centre. That project will be established at a cost of Rs 125 Crore ‘’.

Extension centres aim to enhance the state’s MSME ecosystem by providing access to advanced technology to the local industries, entrepreneurs, and artisans who will benefit from state-of-the-art facilities to improve production quality and competitiveness.

Training programs at these centers will equip local youth with technical skills, creating employment opportunities and fostering innovation.

The initiative aligns with Bihar’s Broader industrial development strategy, particularly in sectors like textiles. leather and agro-based industries.

Gaya Technology Centre;

The earlier approved Technology Center in Gaya, with a proposed investment of Rs. 125 crore, is awaiting land allocation from the Bihar government. The allocation is expected within 15 days.

Once operational, it will serve as a crucial hub for advanced manufacturing and skill development in the region.

Manjhi Expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support in fostering Bihar’s development under the NDA government, stating: “The land in Gaya will be finalized soon, followed by the construction of the centre. I want to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his effort to develop Bihar.”
