EC registered 24.41% of voting till 11 am in Bihar.

Patna, May 7, 2024: Voting picked up pace across five Lok Sabha constituencies of Bihar on Tuesday, with the Election Commission reporting a voter turnout of 24.41% till 11 am.

Voting is in constituencies of the third phase of the Lok Sabha election:

Voting is underway in Jhanjharpur, Supaul, Araria, Madhepura, and Khagaria constituencies as part of the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Voters turned out in large numbers, and polling has remained peaceful so far.

According to the Election Commission, Supaul recorded the highest turnout at 25.98%, closely followed by Araria (25.97%), Khagaria (24.49%), Madhepura (23.31%), and Jhanjharpur (22.39%).

A total of 54 candidates are contesting across these five constituencies—35 representing various political parties and 19 independents.

Prominent leaders exercised their franchise early in the day. JD(U) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha cast his vote in Jhanjharpur, while former Bihar Industries Minister and BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain voted in Supaul. Madhepura District Magistrate Vijay Prakash Meena, along with his family, also voted in the morning hours.
