Devotees across Bihar offer Aragya to the setting Sun on the third day of Chhath Mahaparv.

Patna, October 27, 2025: On the third day of Chhath Mahaparva, the great festival of folk faith, devotees across Patna and the entire state of Bihar offered Arghya (offering) to the setting sun on Monday evening.
Nitish Kumar performed the rituals before devotees of his family in his official home:
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, along with his family members, performed the rituals at 1 Anne Marg, offering Aragya to the setting sun and praying to Chathi Maiya for the progress, peace, and prosperity of Bihar and its people.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, BJP MLC Sanjay Mayukh, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Rural Work Minister Ashok Choudhary, and Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen also participated in the rituals with their families.

Union Minister and LJPRV national president Chirag Paswan performed Chhath Puja with his family at the party office.
A large number of devotees turned up at Chhath Ghats:
A massive crowd of devotees thronged the Ganga Ghat and other water bodies across Patna to offer prayers to Lord Surya (The Sun God).
Similar scenes of devotion were witnessed at makeshift Chhath Ghats in parks and localities, as well as on the rooftops of homes.
The festival was celebrated with grandeur in other districts as well.
In Deo block of Aurangabad, also known as Surya Nagari (City of the Sun), thousands of devotees took a holy dip in the Suryakund and offered prayers, believing that wishes made here with pure hearts are fulfilled.

In Arwal, large crowds gathered at the historic Madhusharvan Chhath Ghat, where extensive arrangements were made by the district administration and local committees.
Magistrates and police personnel were deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of rituals.
The Chhath Mahaparv began with Nahay Khay, followed by Kharna Puja and a 36-hour fast without food or water.
On Monday, devotees offered Arghya to the setting sun, and on Tuesday morning, they will offer Arghya to the rising sun, marking the conclusion of the four-day festival with the ritual of Paran (Breaking of the fast).
