Deepa Manjhi observes Kharna Puja on day 2 of Chaiti Chhath with devotion.

Patna April 2, 2025: Deepa Manjhi, the Imamganj MLA and daughter-in-law of Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, is observing the auspicious Chaiti Chhath festival with great devotion.

Accompanied by her sister-in-law Rinki Kumari, Deepa Manjhi performed Kharna Puja in the Mahakar block of Gaya district, praying to Chhathi Maiya for happiness, peace and prosperity in the state and the country.

As per the ritual of Chaiti Chhath on day 2, devotees prepare Prasad of milk, jaggary and Roti before breaking their one-day fast by doing the Kharna Puja. After that, Prasad distributed among family and friends. After the Kharna Puja, devotees start the 36-hours waterless fast.

On day 3, devotees will offer prayers to the setting sun at the ghats and the four-day festival will conclude with an offering to the rising sun on day 4, followed by Paran (Breaking the fast).  

With Deepa Manjhi’s participation, the festival holds both spiritual and political significance, reflecting Bihar’s deep-rooted cultural traditions and faith in the Chhath festival.

Devotion and Celebration in Bihar:

Chhath Puja is a festival of purity, discipline and unwavering faith in the Lord Sun.

People across Bihar are visiting devotees’ homes, taking Prasad of Kharna Puja and seeking blessings from devotees.

The atmosphere is filled with devotion, as thousands prepare for Arghya at riverbanks and ponds.

With Chaiti Chhath in full swing, devotees are embracing the spiritual and cultural essence of this grand festival.

Meanwhile, Bihar government has made elaborate preparation to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of Chaiti Chhath.

Bihar police have stepped up security arrangements at Chhath Ghats across all districts.

District magistrates, Senior Superintendent of Police and Superintendent of Police have been directed to remain vigilant during Arghya offerings on Thursday and Friday.

A senior Bihar government official stated, “The safety and convenience of devotees are our top priority. We are leaving no stone unearth to ensure a smooth and peaceful Chhath celebration.”
