Patna, July 24, 2025: The fourth day of the monsoon session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly began in chaos as the opposition persisted in demanding a discussion on the voter list Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
Before proceedings commenced, Grand Alliance MLAs, dressed in black as a mark of protest, assembled at the Assembly portico, raising slogans against the double-engine government and accusing it of avoiding a discussion on SIR inside the house.
Opposition protests intensify on fourth day of the monsoon session:
The opposition has continued its protests throughout the monsoon session, alleging irregularities in the voter list revision process being conducted by the Election Commission ahead of the Bihar elections.
The matter has reached the High Court and the Supreme Court, with the opposition alleging that the government, in collusion with the Election Commission, is conspiring to remove the names of the poor and migrant workers from the voter list.

Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has reiterated that proceedings in the house will not continue until a special discussion on SIR is held.
The continued protests have disrupted house proceedings, preventing the Question Hour and Attention Motion from taking place, thereby stalling the discussion of public issues raised by MLAs.
For the past two days, the ruckus over the voter revision issue has stalled the Assembly, and if protests continue today, crucial scheduled discussions may again be impacted.
Key agenda items for today:
Despite the chaos, the government has a significant agenda planned for the day, including the presentation of the CAG report in the Assembly by Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary, discussion and passage of the Appropriation Bill, discussion on the supplementary budget, which was tabled on 21st July with an allocation of over Rs. 57,946 crore.
A focused discussion on the Social Welfare Department’s budget, which has received the highest allocation in the supplementary budget.
If proceedings proceed smoothly, questions from various departments will be taken up, and public concerns will be addressed on the House floor.
The ongoing standoff between the government and the opposition over the SIR issue has stalled legislative work, overshadowing discussions on budget and public welfare issues during this monsoon session.
