Congress intensifies campaign in Bihar with ‘Save the Constitution’ March in Patna.

Patna April 29, 2025: With the Bihar Assembly elections on the horizon, the Congress Party has ramped up its campaign efforts, holding a high-energy march themed “Save the Constitution” in Patna on Tuesday.
Led by the state the grand old party president Rajesh Kumar Ram, a large contingent of party leaders and workers marched from Sadaqat Ashram to Bas Ghat via Ashok Rajpath, signaling the party’s assertive approach in the run-up the polls.
“Our goal is to save the Constitution and stop those who attempt to violate it,” said Rajesh Kumar Ram during the march.
Echoing this sentiment, Madan Mohan Jha, leader of the Congress in the Bihar Legislative Council, emphasized the march’s purpose.
“This march aims to connect with the people of the state and spread awareness about constitutional values,” Jha said.
Congress march aims to attack BJP:
The march also served as a direct attack on the BJP, with Congress leaders criticizing the party on various issues, including the Waqf Act.
Participants waved the grand old party flags and shouted slogans in defense of the Constitution.
Congress may want to enhance bargaining power during seat-sharing:
Political analysts view this show of strength as a strategic move by the the grand old party to assert its position within the Mahagathbandhan alliance, particularly to bargain for a larger share of seats in the assembly elections.
Some observers see it as a pressure tactic aimed at RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, especially as the grand old party high command has yet to endorse him as the alliance’s chief ministerial face.

While the RJD has projected Tejashwi Yadav as the natural leader, Congress has taken a more cautious stance.

Krishna Allavaru, the party’s in-charge for Bihar, has made it clear that the decision on the CM face will be taken after the election results.
This march follows a broader pattern of grassroots mobilization by Congress including initiatives like Kanhaiya Kumar’s “Palayan Roko, Naukri Do Yatra,” which targeted youth migration and unemployment across the state.
