Patna, December 30, 2025: Bihar continues to reel under a severe cold wave, with chilling westerly winds and plunging temperatures disrupting daily life across the state.
Cold wave conditions are prevailing in almost all districts, forcing people to stay indoors.
The Meteorological Centre in Patna on Tuesday issued a cold day warning for 28 districts, cautioning residents about harsh weather conditions and extreme cold.
The districts under cold day alert include Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Sheohar, Supaul, Araria, Madhepura, Kishanganj, Darbhanga, Purnea, Vaishali, Saharsa, Samastipur, Patna, Sheikhpura, Nalanda, Jehanabad, Munger, Bhagalpur, Nawada, Jamui, Banka, and Gaya.

According to weather data from the past 24 hours, Araria emerged as the coldest district in the state.
The minimum temperature in Forbesganj was recorded at 8.4 degrees Celsius.
A noticeable drop in minimum temperatures, ranging between 0.8 and 0.2 degrees Celsius, was also reported in Supaul, Purnea, Saharsa, Motihari, Valmikinagar, and several other districts.
Motihari recorded the sharpest fall in temperature.

The Meteorological Department has warned that the New Year is likely to witness even more intense cold conditions.
An orange alert has been issued for the entire state, indicating the likelihood of dense fog and cold day conditions in many areas.
Authorities urged people to stay warm:
People have been advised to remain cautious, especially during early morning and late night hours.
Meanwhile, in view of the worsening cold wave, the Bihar Disaster Management Department has issued a toll-free helpline number for emergencies.

The department has urged citizens to take special care of their health, avoid exposure to extreme cold, and strictly follow the guidelines issued to prevent cold-related illnesses.
