CM Nitish Kumar inspects Ganga Ghats revival works in Bakhtiyarpur, sets June 2025 deadline.

Patna, June 9, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday conducted a detailed inspection of the Ganga Ghats development works from Ghansurpur to Seedhi Ghat in Bakhtiyarpur aimed at reviving the old stream of the Ganga River.
Accompanied by Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, the Chief Minister reviewed the status of various ongoing projects, including the restoration of the old staircase at Seedhi Ghat.
During the site visit, the Principal Secretary of the Water Resources Department., Santosh Kumar Mall, briefed the progress and technical aspects of the works.
Nitish Kumar instructed officials to expedite construction to ensure completion before the onset of monsoon, citing the convenience it would bring to local residents and pilgrims.
Nitish Kumar has a special focus on the Ganga revival project:
Under this project, the restoration of a 4, 420-meter stretch from Ghansurpur to Dedoor Ghat in Bakhtiyarpur block, Patna district will revive at the cost of Rs.34.27.80 crore.

The contractor will have jobs in hand of desilting and channel cleaning, geo bag slope pitching over 1,520 meters near Ghansurpur, Karauta, and Hatia villages to prevent erosion, three-year maintenance plan to ensure water flow, land acquisition for a connecting path near Seedhi Ghat Temple and JMT School.
Seedhi Ghat development project:
The cost of the Seedhi Ghat project is Rs. 56.06 crore and has completion target of June 2025.
It has 330-meter staircase construction, erosion protection (PP rope gabion toe, geo bag slope pitching) and pathway development across 2,100 meters including 1,100m downstream.
Apart from that, construction of toilets, chasing rooms, landscaping and lighting systems are also proposed.

The Chief Minister also inspected concrete protective works and erosion control measures being implemented on the right bank of the Ganga Channel near Seedhi Ghat.
Tributes and temple visit:
Nitish Kumar offered prayers at Shri Radhe Krishna temple seeking the peace, prosperity, and welfare of the state.
He also paid floral tributes at the Samadhi Sthal of eminent freedom fighter and former MP Pandit Sheelbhadra Yaji and his wife Balkeshwari Yaji.
During the Deepak Kumar Principal Secretary to CM, Kumar Ravi, secretary to CM, Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, Patna Divisional Commissioner, Dr. Tyagarajan S. M., Patna District Magistrate, Avkash Kumar, SSP, Patna and Satyanand Yaji, along with senior officials from the Water Resources Department.
