Patna, October 5, 2025: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday inaugurated the newly constructed Rajgir Cricket Stadium at the Rajgir Sports Complex, calling it a milestone for Bihar’s sports infrastructure and a boost to the state cricketing aspirations.
Built over 18 acres of land, the international-standard stadium has a seating capacity of 40,000 spectators, with modern facilities, including a media gallery, player amenities and provisions for spectators’ comfort.
Nitish Kumar said this stadium will write history:
“This stadium has been built keeping in mind international standards. It will provide Bihar’s talented cricketers the opportunity to play at a high level and will pave the way for the return of international cricket to Bihar after several decades. I am confident that the Rajgir Cricket Stadium will write a new chapter in the state’s cricket history,” Kumar said.
The Rajgir Cricket Stadium is built under the guidance of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It is being constructed in line with international parameters.
The stadium features nine full-size cricket pitches, along with four to five practice pitches, ensuring facilities of global standards.
The BCCI’s pitch curator has been engaged to oversee the preparation of pitches to ensure they meet international requirements.
Development boosts for Nitish Kumar’s home district:
Alongside the stadium, Nitish Kumar also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 48 development projects worth Rs 1,242 crore in Nalanda district.
These included schemes announced earlier during his Pragati Yatra.
“These projects will give new impetus and direction to development work in Nalanda, improving the living standards of the people. Citizens will directly benefit from these schemes,” Kumar said.
The Chief Minister also interacted with beneficiaries of the social security pension scheme, Jeevika Didis, electricity consumers, and other welfare scheme recipients during the event.
