Patna, October 5, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate the newly built cricket ground and pavilion of the Rajgir International Cricket Stadium on Sunday at 3 PM.
An event is scheduled in Rajgir to mark the occasion. The much-awaited Rajgir cricket stadium is in its final phase of construction and is expected to be completed this month.
Rajgir cricket stadium is Nitish Kumar’s dream project:
The stadium, considered one of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s dream projects, is expected to emerge as a premier sporting hub in Bihar, significantly boosting the state’s sports infrastructure.
In a video statement, Kumar Ravi, Secretary to the Chief Minister cum Secretary of the Building Construction Department, said, “The pavilion has been designed in such a way that the Rajgir hills will be visible, offering a panoramic view. Most of the seating areas for spectators will also be completed soon.”
Rajgir cricket stadium will meet global parameters:
Built under the guidance of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the stadium is expected to host major international matches once ready.
“Our engineers studied stadiums both in India and abroad before finalizing the design. The Rajgir Cricket Stadium is being constructed in line with international parameters,” Ravi said.
Spread over 72,843 square meters, the stadium will have a seating capacity of 39,000 spectators.
It will feature nine full-size cricket pitches, along with four to five practice pitches, ensuring facilities of global standards.
Officials added that the BCCI’s pitch curator has been engaged to oversee the preparation of pitches to ensure they meet international requirements.
