Patna December 2, 2024: Chirag Paswan, Union Minister of Food Processing, said the vast opportunities in Bihar’s food processing sector during the Food Processing Investor’s Meet 2024 held in Patna on Monday.
Highlighting the collaborative efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he noted the sector’s critical role in boosting the economy, enhancing agricultural productivity, and placing Indian food products on the global map.
Chirag Paswan Believes Infinite Potential in Food Processing:
Paswan outlines the possibilities in the sector, aiming to position India as a “world food basket” by catering to both domestic and international markets.
“There are infinite possibilities in the food processing sector today. We have to take Indian food products to the international market. When the food products and brand of this place are seen abroad, it will be a matter of pride for us. This will work to give India an international identity,” Paswan said.
He further said, “We will be able to meet the needs of the world while fulfilling our needs. We will be able to present ourselves as a world food basket. We need to work with that thinking.”
The meeting aligns with PM Modi’s goal of doubling farmers’ income, with food processing offering a pathway for value addition to agricultural produce.
The emphasis on empowering the rural economy and providing better facilities for investors supports Bihar’s agriculture-based economy.
Focus on Employment and Migration:
Chirag Paswan stressed the potential of reverse migration, where skilled returning to Bihar could unlock new opportunities. Investment in food processing is expected to generate significant employment and industrial growth.
Chirag Paswan highlighted the “Double Engine Government” approach, signifying collaborative efforts between the state and central governments to develop Bihar.
“Our Chief Minister is serious about providing every possible facility to the investors in Bihar. Bihar is an agriculture-based state. In such a situation, today when we are organizing food processing investors farmers of the agriculture-based state should also get its benefit. Our Prime Minister’s thinking is to double the income of the farmers. In such a situation, it is important that we try to move ourselves forward while helping our farmer brothers,” he said.
Chirag Paswan reassured investors of favorable policies and infrastructure to facilitate their ventures.
Vision 2047 to make India a developed country:
The Minister tied the state’s development to India’s broader goal of becoming a developed nation by its 100th year of independence, emphasizing the need for balanced rural and urban growth.
