Chirag Paswan criticized Pashupati Paras, saying he was not part of NDA in the past.
Patna November 21, 2024: Chirag Paswan, the Union Minister of Food Processing Industries, stirred controversy by claiming that his uncle, Pashupati Kumar Paras, former Union Minister and leader of the Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), was never a part of the NDA.
The statement follows a meeting held by Paras in Patna, where RLJP leaders decided to contest the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections independently, while also expressing a willingness to align with the NDA.
Responding to media queries on Thursday, Chirag Paswan firmly stated, “My uncle was never in the NDA alliance. He was not a part of the NDA during the Lok Sabha elections or the assembly elections. So, how can he talk about separation?”
This assertion challenges Paras’s previous claims of being an NDA member despite the BJP not allocating any seats to the RLJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
RLJP claimed Paras is a successor of Ram Vilas Paswan and not Chirag Paswan:
Meanwhile, Shravan Agrawal, a prominent RLJP leader, targeted Chirag Paswan, asserting that Pashupati Kumar Paras is the true successor of Ram Vilas Paswan, Aggrawal emphasized RLJP’s strategy to strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of the 2025 assembly elections and confirmed the party’s plan to contest independently. Leaders such as former MP Prince Raj Paswan and Suraj Bhan Singh participated in the RLJP meeting, signaling a push for party consolidation.
The ongoing rift between Chirag Paswan and Pashupati Kumar Paras highlights the persistent tensions within the Paswan family and their respective political factions, even as both claim the legacy of the late Ram Vilas Paswan.
Chirag Paswan claimed NDA will form the governments in Jharkhand and Maharashtra:
In other statements, Paswan expressed confidence in the NDA’s prospects in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, citing exit polls that predict a favourable outcome for the alliance, He lauded the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that the NDA is expanding its influence.
Chirag Paswan also targeted RJD over employment:
On the ongoing debate over employment initiatives in Bihar, Paswan dismissed the RJD’s claims, stating, “If the RJD had any capability of providing employment, Lalu Yadav’s rule would not have been called Jungle Raj. Bihar witnessed maximum migration during that period. People know who can truly lead the state forward.”
