Chirag Paswan claimed if his party would allow him, he would contest the assembly poll.
Patna December 14, 2024: Union Minister Chirag Paswan, national president of the Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas (LJPRV), has expressed his intention to engage more actively in Bihar politics by contesting the MLA elections.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Paswan reiterated his commitment to the development of the state, aligning with his party’s slogan, “Bihar First, Bihari First.”
He stated, “I always think of promoting my party’s slogan of Bihar First Bihari First while staying in my home state. However, that decision to contest elections would depend on the directions of his party.”
Chirag Paswan stayed cautious about him becoming the Chief Ministerial face after Nitish Kumar:
When asked about being a potential Chief Ministerial candidate after Nitish Kumar, Paswan appeared cautious, affirming that the NDA would contest elections under Kumar’s leadership.
“NDA will contest under the leadership of Nitish Kumar in Bihar and he would take the oath as Chief Minister,” Paswan said.
Chirag Paswan also refrained from commenting on future leadership scenarios, leaving such decisions to the alliance.
Chirag Paswan criticized opposition leaders:
In response to Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav’s remarks, where Yadav likened Paswan’s position to Nitish Kumar’s alleged sideling by the BJP, Paswan dismissed the comments as an attempt to stir division in the NDA.
“The opposition people are waiting for a rift in the NDA, but nothing like this is going to happen. We are working together to take Bihar forward and will also contest elections together,” he asserted.
Paswan also pointed to discord within the India alliance, citing Lalu Yadav’s suggestion of giving leadership to Mamta Banerjee as evidence of disunity. He claimed the opposition targeted the NDA because of their internal struggles.

Shifting his critique to Congress, Paswan remarked that while Priyanka Gandhi gives better speeches than Rahul Gandhi in Parliament, she often deviates from relevant topics like the emergency.
He criticized Congress for not addressing its historical imposition of Emergency during discussions on the Constitution.
“Rahul Gandhi roams around with the Constitution in his pocket, but why does not say that the Congress was the first to impose Emergency in the country?” Paswan questioned.
Paswan’s comments reflect his confidence in the NDA’s cohesion and aim to deflect opposition criticism while emphasizing Bihar’s development as a priority.
