Patna, June 11, 2024: A Chinese national who attempted suicide inside the Muzaffarpur Central Jail on June 8 succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) on Tuesday, officials confirmed. The deceased has been identified as Li Jiaqi (60). He was arrested by the Muzaffarpur police from Barriya ISBT on June 6 for allegedly entering India illegally without valid visa documents.

According to Jail authorities, Li Jiaqi was lodged in Shaheed Khudiram Bose Central Jail following his arrest. On June 8, he allegedly attempted to take his life by partially cutting his private parts using the glass from his spectacles.
Chinese national was found unconscious and severely bleeding inside a jail toilet by other inmates. Prison officials immediately shifted him to the jail ward of SKMCH, Muzaffarpur, where he remained under treatment until he died on Tuesday morning.
The superintendent of Muzaffarpur Central Jail has confirmed the incident.
Details of Arrest:
Police said Li Jaiqi had entered India via the Nepal border and reached Muzaffarpur. He was arrested while attempting to border a bus at Barriya ISBT under the Brahmpura police station area.
Following his arrest, Muzaffarpur Police and intelligence officials interrogated him.

Police recovered several items from Li Jiaqi, including:
Currencies of China, India and Nepal
A map of China with three small stone statues.
Authorities are investigating the motive behind his entry into India and the purpose of the items found with him.
