
Central government proposal of 3 E-ways that boost 21 districts.
Patna July 24: After the central government has proposed the three expressway projects in Bihar, this initiative is expected to boost the economy of at least 21 districts of the state.
The Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has allocated Rs 26000 crore for the three expressways to connect Buxar to Bhagalpur, Patna to Purnea, and Bodh Gaya (Gaya) to Darbhanga districts.
During the union budget of 2024-25, the central government has allocated a total of Rs 59900 crore for the various projects in Bihar. These include Rs 26000 crore for the three expressway projects and a two-lane road bridge on the Ganga River in Buxar, Rs 21400 crore for the power project in Pirpainti, Bhagalpur district, and Rs 11500 crore for the flood control in North Bihar.
Although the Detailed Project Reports (DPR) of these projects have not yet been completed, it is anticipated that these expressways will enhance connectivity and economic development across a substantial portion of Bihar.
Central government has given infrastructural boost to Bihar: The Buxar-Bhagalpur district is expected to be built along the Ganga basin from Buxar and it will cross through, Bhojpur, Patna, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Khagaria, Munger and culminate at Bhagalpur districts, passing 8 districts.
The Patna-Purnea Expressway will go through Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Saharsa, and Madhepuraand and culminate in Purnea touching at least 7 districts.
The Bodh Gaya-Darbhanga expressway will be built on the line of Kashi corridor, connecting Vishnupad temple in Bodh Gaya to Buddha and Jain pilgrimage centers in Nalanda, Takht Harimandir Shahib Patna and then Mithila city of Darbhanga via Vaishali and Samastipur district. This expressway will cross 6 districts.
Residents of 21 districts will benefit: Besides the religious corridor, the industrial corridor will be set up alongside these expressways benefitting the residents of the involved districts
According to an official of the Road Transport Department, although it is an initial period, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will ensure that the expressways align through these districts. These are the shortest routes that officers would look into during the preparation of the DPR.

The central government will look into two more E-way projects: Besides these three projects, the DPR works on the Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway via Kishanganj and Raxaul-Haldia Expressway will also be accelerated. These two projects are part of the Bharat Mala project of the central government.
