BPSC conducted the re-exam at 22 centres previously cancelled at the Bapu centre.
Patna January 4, 2025: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has conducted re-examinations at 22 centres for candidates who previously appeared at the Bapu examination centre, where the December 13, 2024, test was cancelled due to chaos over the late distribution of question papers.
The incident, compounded by the unauthorized use of mobile phones to record videos of the disruption, has led to widespread protests and increased scrutiny of the examination process.
BPSC conducted a re-exam amid protests and dharna:
The protests reflect frustration over administrative lapses and perceived inadequacies in the examination process, keeping public attention firmly fixed on the issue.
According to the BPSC secretary Satya Prakash Sharma , approximately 7000 candidates downloaded admit cards for the re-examination, a fraction of the 12,000 who appeared at the Bapu centre in the original exam.
Strict measures have been implemented to ensure a smooth and fair examination process.
Enhanced Security in the BPSC re-exam:
Large police contingents have been deployed at examination centres in Patna and other locations to maintain order.
The district administration has enforced prohibitory orders around the centres to prevent any assembly of individuals near the premises.
65 duty magistrates have been stationed across examination centres, with an additional 14 at the control room for real-time monitoring through CCTV footage.
Entrants undergo thorough checks and only admit cards, pens, and water bottles were permitted inside.
In Patna, re-examination centres are located in areas such as Khagaul and Shastri Nagar.
BPSC Secretary Satya Prakash Sharma confirmed the steps taken to ensure the integrity of the process, highlighting the commission’s effort to rebuild trust and address previous grievances.
Patna DM Dr. Chandrashekher Singh said the re-examination is underwent smoothly in 22 centres and we and SSP Patna are inspecting all centres.
Despite the Re-examination arrangements, the ongoing protest underscores dissatisfaction with the handling of the 70th combined preliminary examination. The situation remains politically and socially charged, with demands for broader accountability and reform in Bihar’s public service recruitment process.
