Patna, August 12, 2025: During the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has verified the case of a woman listed as being 120 years old.
According to official records, Asha Devi, born on January 1, 1905, is alive and resides in Feku Tola, Shrimatpur, Kali Prasad, under the Pirpainti (SC0 Assembly constituency.
In the Asha Devi case, the EC has found no discrepancy in the voter list:
Asha is the wife of Chalitar Mandal and holds an Aadhar number 8982 5816 6684.
Her age was confirmed during verification by the Booth Level Officer (BLO) Farzana Khatoon at Booth No. 292, Middle School Feku Tola (North Part).
The SIR exercise of the voter list comes ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, with around 65 lakh voter names already deleted during the first phase.
Officials are now focusing on correcting discrepancies in the rolls.
Discrepancy detected in the voter list in Siwan:
In another unusual case, an online voter registration form submitted for Minta Devi, wife of Dhananjay Kumar Singh, at Polling Station No. 94, Kanya Utkramit Middle School, Arjanipur Baya Bhag (Block- Siswan, 109-Darauli Assembly Constituency), recorded her date of birth as July 15, 1900—making her 124 years old in the draft electoral roll published on August 1, 2025.
After the error was pointed out by the BLO, Minta Devi filed a correction request through Form-08 on August 10, 2025. The claim, reference ID S04109G8C1008251200004, will be processed as per the rules.
The EC has said these verifications are part of its efforts to ensure accuracy in the voter rolls before the state goes to the polls.
