Bihar legislative assembly’s winter session began with 3 newly elected MLAs sworn in on Monday.

Patna November 25, 2024: The winter session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly began on Monday with the swearing-in of three new MLAs. Deepa Manjhi, daughter-in-law of Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi representing Imamganj, Manorama Devi from Belaganj, and Ashok Singh from Ramgarh took the oath of office and secrecy.
Vishal Prashant, son of Bahubali leader Sunil Pandey from Tarari, is scheduled to take his oath tomorrow. Following the ceremony, condolence messages were read, and the House was adjourned until the next day.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar marked the start of the session with a gesture of goodwill, presenting bouquets to Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav and Legislative Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh. Nitish Kumar was warmly welcomed at the Assembly by JDU leaders, including Vijay Chaudhary, Ashok Chaudhary, and Shravan Kumar.
Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav also made his presence felt, dispelling speculation about his attendance following his absence during the monsoon session. RJD leaders greeted him upon his arrival, which addressed questions raised by the ruling party about his participation.
The Bihar legislative assembly will last for five days:
The session, set to last for five days, has a packed agenda including discussions on state-specific matters and legislative work on November 26 and 27, a presentation and passage of the second supplementary budget on November 27 and a discussion on non-official resolutions that will conclude the session on November 28.
Despite the short duration, the government plans to introduce multiple bills and carry out significant legislative business during the session.
