Bihar gets 4 Amrit Bharat Express: Patna—Delhi, Darbhanga—Lucknow trains flagged off to boost transportation.

Patna, July 18, 2025: People of Bihar received a major gift on Friday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Amrit Bharat Express trains between Patna—New Delhi and Darbhanga—Lucknow virtually from Motihari in East Champaran.
Key features of Patna—New Delhi Amrit Bharat Express:
The Patna—New Delhi Amrit Bharat Express has a maximum speed of 130 kmph and the total coaches is 22, including 11 general, 8 sleeper, 1 pantry and 2 SLRD.
These Amrit Bharat are fully non-ac trains, but with comfortable seating with charging points, mobile holders, and bottle holders at every seat.

It also has modern facilities like bio toilets, CCTV cameras for security, emergency talk system and display boards for passenger information.
The regular service of these trains will start from July 31 and they will save an average of 20% travel time.
Route and Halts:
The train will halt at 12 stations including Patna, Ara, Buxar, Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Subedarganj, Govindpuri, Ghaziabad and New Delhi. It will stop for 5-10 minutes at each station.
Passengers benefit:
The Amrit Bharat Express is designed on the lines of the Vande Bharat Express to provide better facilities in a non-AC, affordable format for the common man.
Passengers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh will benefit, as it will pass through key cities and districts of UP, enhancing connectivity with the national capital.
Reservations will be mandatory in sleeper coaches, ensuring organized travel during high passenger traffic. The launch aligns with the Centre’s push to boost connectivity in Eastern India, especially ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, showcasing an emphasis on affordable, efficient rail connectivity for Bihar’s middle and lower-income travelers.
