The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) has announced the state squad for the upcoming 2025-26 Ranji Trophy session, with Saqibul Gani appointed as captain and young cricket sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi named vice-captain.
The 14-year-old prodigy, who captured national attention with his remarkable performance in the Indian Premier League at a young age, will make his return to the Bihar team this season.
The Bihar cricket team was downgraded due to underperformance in the last session:
The Bihar cricket team will compete in the Plate Group this year, having been relegated from the Elite Group due to underperformance in the previous season.
All home matches are played at Moinul Haq Stadium, Patna, where Bihar is scheduled to host three fixtures.
The first match will be played between Bihar and Arunachal Pradesh from October 15 to October 18, the second match will be played between Bihar and Meghalaya from November 1 to 4, and the third match will be played between Bihar and Meghalaya from November 16 to 19.
The Arunachal Pradesh team arrived in Patna on Sunday ahead of the season opener.
Bihar Ranji Trophy squad:
Piyush Kumar Singh, Bhaskar Dubey, Saqibul Gani (Captain), Vaibhaw Suryavanshi (Vice-Captain), Arnav Kishore, Ayush Loharuka, Bipin Saurabh, Amod Yadav, Nawaz Khan, Saqib Hasan, Raghvendra Pratap Singh, Sachin Kumar Singh, Himanshu Singh, Khalid Alam, and Sachin Kumar.
Other registered players will remain on standby.
Support staff:
Vinayak Samant (head coach), Kumar Mridul (assistant coach), Dr Himendu Kumar Singh (physiotherapist), and Gopal Kumar (strength and conditioning coach).
Nandan Kumar Singh will serve as the team manager.
