Patna, July 28, 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s scheduled visit to Sameli block in Katihar district was postponed on Monday due to inclement weather.
This marks the second time the program has been cancelled because of persistent rain conditions, the previous instance being on 26th July 2025.
CM was slated to unveil a statue of renowned litterateur Anuppal Mandal, address a public gathering, and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs. 500 crore.
However, continuous heavy rainfall in Patna made air travel unfeasible, forcing a last-minute cancellation.
Katihar District Magistrate Manish Kumar Meena confirmed, “Due to Heavy Rains and poor weather in Patna, the CM Nitish Kumar’s chopper could not take off. All preparations at the venue had been completed by the local administration.”
Local MLA from Barari, Vijay Singh, expressed disappointment, saying, “The Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was to honour the legacy of Anuppal Mandal and engage with the people, but once again, weather played spoilsport.”
CM Nitish Kumar’s elaborate preparations go in vain:
The district and block administration had made comprehensive arrangements for security, crowd control, stage setup, and other logistics.

A large turnout from nearby rural areas was anticipated. However, after news of the cancellation broke, attendees began dispersing from the venue in disappointment.
Visit likely to be rescheduled:
According to administrative sources, the chief minister’s visit is expected to be rescheduled soon.
Nitish Kumar is keen to visit Katihar to connect with locals and discuss matters related to education, literature, and developmental initiatives.
