Bhojpuri Singer Gunjan Singh filed the nomination for the Nawada Lok Sabha seat on Thursday.

Patna: Prominent Bhojpuri singer and actor Gunjan Singh filed the nomination as an independent candidate for Nawada Lok Sabha seat on Thursday.
Gunjan Singh was seeking the ticket of BJP but the party has given it to Vivek Thakur, son of Dr CP Thakur from Nawada.
Gunjan Singh, accompanied by famous You Tuber Manish Kashyap reached the office of district’s returning officer Aushutosh Kumar Verma in Nawada. A large number of his supporters were also present there.
“I have filed the nomination from Nawada on Thursday and I will win the election,” Singh said after filing the nomination.
“I am a son of Nawada and know everything about this place. Why political parties are not giving tickets to the leaders who are natives of Nawada. They always give tickets to the candidates belonging to other districts. Are they thinking that the voters of Nawada are fools,” Gunjan Singh said.
“The NDA candidates have represented Nawada for 10 years and have governments in state and centre. Still, the district lacks a central school, good hospitals and basic infrastructure. These issues are our priority if I win the election from Nawada,” he said.
Nawada is a place where Bhumihar (Upper caste) are in large numbers. They are considered as the core vote banks of BJP in Bihar. Gunjan Singh also belongs to this caste. After his candidature, it is an alarm bell for BJP as he may cut the votes of BJP.
Besides him, BJP candidate Vivek Thakur and RJD candidate Shrawan Kushwaha also filed the nominations on Thursday.
The first phase of voting will take place on April 19 and the last date of filing the nomination is today (March 28).
