Gurugram, April 10, 2026: An awareness seminar was organized at the Girls’ College in Sector-14 to promote participation in the self-enumeration process for Census-2027.

The initiative aimed to educate students about the process and encourage them to actively contribute to the nationwide exercise.

Students encouraged to spread awareness during the seminar:

Addressing the seminar, Deputy Director of Census Operations Pramod Kumar explained that the self-enumeration process, beginning April 16, will allow citizens to fill in their details online, making the census procedure more convenient and transparent.

He encouraged students to spread awareness among their families, friends, and communities to maximize participation.

Step-by-step self-enumeration process:

He elaborated on the step-by-step process for self-enumeration. Citizens must first visit the official website, select their state, and enter the verification code.

Under the registration section, users are required to provide the name of the Head of the Household along with a mobile number, noting that one mobile number can be used to register only one household.

Participants can then choose their preferred language from 16 available options and complete OTP verification.

Afterward, they need to enter details such as district and city, and accurately mark their residence location on the map using the provided red marker.

The system will then open a questionnaire comprising 33 questions related to house listing. In case of any confusion, users can refer to notes and tooltips provided within the portal for guidance.

Once all details are filled in, users are advised to review the information carefully before submission. Upon successful submission, a ‘Self-Enumeration ID’ will be generated, which should be saved securely.

This ID will also be sent via SMs and email, and must be presented to census enumerators during their visit.

Officials and experts present:

The seminar was also attended by Gurvinder Pal Singh, Devesh Bansal, and Sandeep Mann, who contributed to guiding the students on the importance and execution of the process.
