Patna, October 26, 2025: Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and Congress election in-charge for Bihar, Ashok Gahlot, on Sunday said that the decision to project Tejashwi Yadav as the chief ministerial face of the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) was made after thorough discussion and consensus within the alliance.
Speaking to reporters in Patna, Gahlot said, Tejashwi Yadav is a young leader, and I firmly believe that young leaders perform with sincerity. The challenge is before him, and he knows that if he does not perform well, people will reject him in five years. I am confident that he will do well for Bihar and for the country.”
Ashok Gahlot added that Tejashwi had fulfilled promises made in the past and expressed confidence that the promises made in the current election would also be met if the Grand Alliance came to power.
“The Congress has taken the decision in the larger interest of the country,” he said.
Ashok Gahlot targeted the BJP and Nitish Kumar:
Targeting the BJP and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Ashok Gahlot said the political and social situation in the country is alarming.
He remarked, “The BJP leaders are full of arrogance, and the entire nation is watching Bihar. This election is crucial not only for Bihar but for the whole country.”

Commenting on Nitish Kumar’s political journey, Gahlot said, “Nitish Kumar has been ruling Bihar for 20 years and has changed alliances multiple times. I don’t understand what kind of politics he practices. Once he was projecting himself as the Prime Ministerial candidate, and then he fell from the position. We feel bad seeing how his politics have turned out.”
Expressing concern over unemployment, Gahlot said the youth of Bihar are in pain due to a lack of jobs and that change has become essential.
“I appeal to the people of Bihar to bring about change and form the government of the Grand Alliance,” he urged.
Congress’s top leaders will start the election campaign after the Chhath festival:
Ashok Gahlot also announced that Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Mallikarjun Kharge, and other senior Congress leaders will join the election campaign in Bihar after the Chhath festival.

“Once Chhat Puja is over, our top leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and others, will come to Bihar and take part in the campaign,” he said.
