Akhilesh Prasad Singh backs Tejashwi Yadav as CM face of Mahagathbandhan.

Patna, June 26, 2025: In a late-night political development that signals growing coordination within the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), senior Congress leader and CWC member Akhilesh Prasad Singh met Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav at the Bihar Assembly premises on Thursday evening.

The closed-door meeting reportedly lasted for hours sparking fresh speculation ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Akhilesh Singh firmly endorsed Tejashwi Yadav as the chief Ministerial face of the alliance.

“If not Tejashwi, then who else will become CM? He is the obvious choice for the leadership in Bihar,” Singh asserted.

Akhilesh Prasad Singh on alliance unity:

While the seat-sharing formula remains under discussion, Singh downplayed any tensions within the alliance.

“There is no problem anywhere. Everything will be finalized on time. In politics, such meetings are routine and necessary. We keep meeting and discussing issues of public concern,” he said.

On Kharge’s controversial remark:

Reacting to the controversy over Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s reference to Bihar as a “small state,” which triggered backlash from BJP leaders, Singh dismissed the criticism.

“These people are only pretending to be hurt. There’s no real issue here. They are just creating unnecessary noise,” he said.

While Akhilesh Prasad Singh has clearly thrown his weight behind Tejashwi as CM’s face, contradictory signals have emerged from within the Congress.

The party’s Bihar in-charge and state president have so far refrained from declaring support for a specific chief ministerial candidate, maintaining that the decision will be taken after mutual discussions within the alliance.

This divergence within Congress ranks has raised eyebrows, especially at a time when clarity and coordination are expected from the opposition bloc.

As the political heat builds up in Bihar, all eyes are now on how the Congress high command navigates this internal divide—and whether Tejashwi Yadav gets formal endorsement as the unanimous CM face of the Grand Alliance.
