Patna July 31: An 8-year-old student sustained a gunshot injury during the firing inside the school campus in Bihar’s Supaul district on Wednesday morning.
Shaishav Yadav, the Superintendent of Police, Supaul confirms the incident. He said that the victim sustained a gunshot injury in his hand and was currently admitted in a hospital. He is out of danger.
The gun was carried by a 5-year-old nursery student in his school bag aimed at the victim. It took place during the assembly session around 9 am. The victim who sustained a gunshot injury on his hand, is studying in class 3.
Sources have said that the victim’s quick reflexes played a crucial role in minizing the injury. By ducking at the right moment, the victim was able to avoid potentially fatal shot to his chest of stomach.
The incident occurred at St Joseph chool located under the Trivenigang police station.
After the incident, the teachers recovered the weapon and called the parents of both the victim and the alleged boy. When the father of the alleged boy arrived at the school, the teacher were complaining the incident with him, during the conversation, the weapon was placed on the table. Seizing the opportunity, the father took the weapon and his son and fled on a bike.
Following the incident, a large number of parents and local residents assembled at the school and created a ruckus in and outside the school premises.
“At present, we are making efforts to calm down the agitating parents and residents. We have deployed adequate security forces in the area to bring normalcy,” Yadav said.
“We are investigating the incident about how the child brought the weapon inside the school. It is an initial period of investigation. We will do a thorough investigation to know whether it is a licensed weapon or not. The action will be taken after the investigation,” Yadav said.
This incident has also raised concerns about the school’s security measures. Yadav mentioned that the action will be taken against the school administration as well.
