Patna, September 24, 2025: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to meet RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav after the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Patna on Wednesday.
Their one-on-one discussion is expected to revolve around seat-sharing and the alliance’s election roadmap.
Sources indicate that the Congress is demanding around 70 seats in Bihar’s 243-member assembly, while the RJD is reluctant to go beyond 60 seats for its ally.
The left parties are also seeking a fair share, making negotiations highly sensitive.
Seat-sharing has historically been a flashpoint in Bihar politics, and this meeting is seen as critical to prevent fissures that could benefit the BJP-led NDA.
Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav will go for a balance of power in the INDIA bloc:
The INDIA bloc comprises RJD, Congress, CPI-ML, CPI, CPIM, and VIP—aims to present a united front.
While the RJD remains the largest opposition force and naturally seeks the lion’s share of seats, Congress views a larger quota as essential to rebuilding its base in Bihar after decades of decline.
Rahul Gandhi and the Congress leaders have avoided naming a chief ministerial candidate, with the understanding that the CM face will be decided post-poll.

Both Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav are keen to project unity over leadership ambitions to prevent the BJP from exploiting any cracks.
Campaign theme: Unemployment, inflation, social justice and reservation:
Congress strategists are framing the election around youth-centric issues—unemployment, price rise, education, and healthcare—while also leveraging Bihar’s legacy of social justice politics.
Bihar stands at a crossroads between hope and despair, justice and injustice,” Congress general secretary and Lok Sabha MP KC Venugopal.
Political analysts note that the Rahul Gandhi-Tejashwi Yadav dialogue will be a litmus test for the opposition’s ability to translate national unity into a concrete seat-sharing formula.

Patna has emerged as the epicentre of national politics with the high-profile CWC meeting currently underway at Sadaqat Ashram.
For the first time, the grand old party is holding such a crucial session in Bihar, signaling its intent to revive its organizational strength in the state ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly election.
The CWC meeting was attended by Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and over 170 senior leaders.
