Patna, September 12, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar’s Purnea district on September 15 to address a massive rally and unveil a series of key infrastructure and development projects worth more than Rs 36,000 crore.
The highlight of the visit will be the inauguration of the much-awaited Purnea airport, which will become the state’s fourth operational commercial airport after Patna, Gaya and Darbhanga.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the interim Terminal Building at the new Civil Enclave of the airport, which will enhance passenger handling capacity in the region.
PM Narendra Modi will give a boost to the Makhana sector:
During his visit, PM Narendra Modi will also launch the National Makhana Board in Bihar. The board will focus on production, adoption of new technologies, value addition, processing, branding, and exports, thereby directly benefiting Makhana farmers.
Bihar accounts for about 90% of the country’s Makhana production, with major hubs in Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, Saharsa, Katihar, Purnea, Supaul, Kishanganj and Araria.
Major power generation and irrigation projects:
PM Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for the 3×800 MW thermal power project at Pirpaiti, Bhagalpur, Bihar’s largest private sector investment worth Rs 25,000 crore.
Designed with ultra-supercritical, low-emission technology, the project is expected to significantly boost Bihar’s energy security.

He will also launch Phase-1 of the Kosi-Mechi Intra-State River Link project worth over Rs 2680 crore, which will strengthen canals, improve flood control, and expand irrigation capacity, benefiting several north-eastern (Seemanchal) districts of the state.
Rail connectivity expansion:
PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for several major railway projects, including the foundation stone of the Bikramshila-Katareah rail line worth over Rs 2,170 crore, which will establish a direct rail link across the Ganga.
He will also inaugurate the Araria-Galgalia (Thakurganj) rail line worth over Rs 4,410 crore.
PM Narendra Modi will flag off the first train on the Araria-Galgalia section, improving connectivity between Araria and Kishanganj.

He will also flag off new train services, including a Vande Bharat express between Jogbani and Danapur (Patna), and Amrit Bharat Express trains on Saharsa—Chheharta (Amritser) and Jogbani—Erode routes.
These services are expected to provide modern facilities, faster travel, and improved connectivity across Bihar and beyond.
Agriculture and rural development initiatives:
PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate a sex-sorted semen facility in Purnea, the first of its kind in eastern and north-eastern India.
With a capacity of producing five lakh doses annually under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission, the facility will help farmers improve dairy productivity and income.
In addition, PM Narendra Modi will hand over keys to beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural and Urban), covering 35,000 rural and 5,900 urban households.
He will also distribute Rs 500 crore in community investment funds to cluster-level federations under the Day-NRLM Scheme.
