Patna, August 2, 2025: Taking a significant step towards modernizing urban infrastructure, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday laid the foundation stone for major road and projects over the Rajiv Nagar and Anandpuri drains in Patna.

These projects aim to ease traffic congestion, enhance road safety, and transform the city’s travel experience.

A video presentation released during the event showcased the vision behind the development—motorists driving at speeds of up to 100 km/h on newly constructed elevated roads, promising a revolution in Patna’s urban mobility.

Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony, CM Nitish Kumar said: “These bridges and roads will not only reduce traffic jams but also provide fast, safe, and modern connectivity within the city. This is a significant step towards making Patna a smart and livable city.

Major drainage and urban renewal projects inaugurated by Nitish Kumar:

Alongside the road and bridge projects, Nitish Kumar also inaugurated the much-anticipated Kurja Nala Nirman Yojana, with an investment of approximately Rs 181 crore. Additionally, a Rs 91 crore project was launched for the reconstruction of the Anandpuri drain.

These drainage initiatives are expected to resolve persistent issues of waterlogging, sewage overflow, and poor urban hygiene, especially in flood-prone areas of the capital.

The event saw participation from both Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, the Urban Development Minister, and several senior government officials.

All leaders underlined the need for swift implementation to ensure timely benefits for Patna residents.

Deputy CM Vijay Sinha remarked:

“The city has long struggled with flooding and traffic snarls. These developments will bring real relief and a visible transformation.”

A vision for a modern metropolis:

CM Nitish Kumar emphasized that urban infrastructure and citizen convenience remain top priorities, especially in the run-up to the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

He assured citizens that development will continue at full pace, and the government is committed to building a clean, smart, and modern Patna.

It’s notable that Rajiv Nagar and Anandpuri are among the worst-affected localities when it comes to seasonal waterlogging and traffic bottlenecks.

Once completed, these projects are expected to significantly improve daily commutes, quality of life, and urban resilience for thousands of residents.
