Patna, July 24, 2025: Amid a heated exchange in the Bihar Legislative Assembly on Thursday, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav’s “monkey” jibe triggered a major uproar from the ruling party.
While Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary was speaking, Tejashwi interjected, accusing the government of lying, leading to a heated verbal spat with a minister from the ruling side.
During the exchange, Tejashwi told the minister, “Why do you start jumping like a monkey? “prompting ruling party ministers to stand in protest, demanding an apology for what Cabinet Minister Prem Kumar termed “unparliamentary language.”
Ruling party leaders demanded an apology from Tejashwi Yadav:
“Tejashwi Yadav has used an unparliamentary word during the proceedings of the house on Thursday, and he should apologize for it,” Kumar said.
Inside the house, Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary reiterated government data on migration, claiming it has reduced significantly since 2005, leading to further disruptions as the opposition raised slogans accusing the government of falsehood.
Samrat Chaudhary claimed, “18 lakh deceased voters identified in the rolls, while 26 lakh out-migrants traced? The migration from Bihar has dropped from 11% in 2005 to 2% now.”
Tejashwi Yadav criticized Samrat Chaudhary:
Tejashwi Yadav counter attack Samrat Chaudhary and said he is lying and misled the house.
Tejashwi Yadav targeted Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary for speaking about stopping migration, while the Union Labour Minister acknowledged in the Lok Sabha that over three crore people migrate from Bihar for employment.
“If the Centre data is true, then Samrat Chaudhary was lying in the Assembly,” he said.
Tejashwi Yadav, addressing the house, acknowledged that as this is the last session before elections, if his party or members have hurt anyone in the past five years, they are ready to apologize, but insisted that apologies should come from both sides.

He also questioned the integrity of the voter list revision in Bihar, asserting that if infiltrators have been included in the voter list under Nitish Kumar’s long tenure as CM and Narendra Modi’s tenure as PM, it raises serious questions about governance.
He demanded assurance from Nitish Kumar that no Bihari’s name would be deleted from the list, highlighting concerns shared by JDU MPs and NDA allies, including Chandrababu Naidu’s party.
Meanwhile, opposition MLAs have continued their protest over the SIR issue, bringing an adjournment motion demanding that all house proceedings stop for a long discussion on SIR.
