Sonpur Division sets record: Rs. 6.53 Crore collected from ticketless passengers in June.

Patna, July 1, 2025: The Sonpur Division of East Central Railway has achieved a historic milestone in passenger accountability and revenue generation, collecting a record Rs.6.53 crore in penalties from ticketless passengers in June 2025, the highest-ever collection for any month in the division’s history.
97,699 ticketless passengers apprehended in Sonpur Division:
During the month, 97,699 ticketless passengers were apprehended, reflecting the division’s intensified efforts to curb ticketless travel through Laal Gaadi special Checking drives and regular mega ticket checking operations.

“These intensive checks have significantly improved ticket checking efficiency and passenger discipline across the division,” an official statement said.
The positive shift towards responsible travel:
Owing to sustained awareness and strict enforcement, the division reported the highest growth in Unreserved Ticketing System ticket sales, indicating a positive behavioral shift among passengers towards responsible and lawful travel.

Indian Railways has reiterated its appeal to all passengers to travel with valid tickets to avoid inconvenience and penalties, emphasizing that fair travel ensures better facilities and smoother operations for all.
“The commitment of our commercial officers led by Sr. DCM, staff, TTEs, and enforcement teams including RPF has made this achievement possible. We remain dedicated to ensuring a disciplined and fair travel environment for every railway passenger,” said Vivek Bhusan Sood, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Sonpur Division.
This achievement marks Sonpur Division’s commitment to ensuring accountability and improving passenger services within Indian railways while contributing significantly to the division’s revenue.
