Patliputra—Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express inaugurated by PM Modi, begins regular service on June 21.

Patna, June 20, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually flagged off the Patliputra—Gorakhpur Vande Bharat Express on Friday from a massive public meeting held in Jasoli, Siwan, marking a major step toward modern rail connectivity between Bihar and eastern Uttar Pradesh.
This “Made in India” semi-high-speed train will provide a safe, fast, and comfortable travel experience across the Tirhut and Champaran regions, significantly reducing travel time and offering top-class amenities.
Key highlights of the Vande Bharat Express:
Vande Bharat Express will run 6 days a week except Saturdays.
The route of this train is Patliputra—Hajipur—Muzaffarpur—Motihari –Sagauli—Bettiah –Narkatiaganj –Bagaha –Kaptanganj and Gorakhpur.
From Gorakhpur, the train will depart at 5:40 AM, arrive at Patliputra at 12:45 PM. From Patliputra, it will depart at 3:30 PM arrive at Gorakhpur at 11:30 PM.

The passengers can pay RS 925 for the AC Chair Car and RS 1820 for the executive class.
Advanced safety and technology:
Loco pilot Jayant Sinha assured the public that the new train is 100% safe, equipped with state-of-the-art safety systems, modern AC propulsion, and ergonomic cabin design.

“This Vande Bharat is capable of running at 110 mph now, and in the future, we can scale up to 160kmph,” he said, expressing hope that more such trains will soon serve Bihar.
The train is expected to enhance connectivity and boost economic activities in sectors like education, healthcare, and commerce between Bihar and eastern UP.

It’s also seen as a crucial step toward improving infrastructure under the ‘Bihar First’ development agenda.
