Patna November 22, 2024: The construction of a world-class cricket stadium in the Rajgir Sports Complex, spanning an area of 72,843 square meters with a seating capacity of 40,000 spectators is currently in full swing.
The Bihar government is making a complete focus on this cricket stadium following the successful hosting of the Asian Women’s Hockey Champions Trophy 2024 in Rajgir, which showcased the region’s potential as a sports hub.
Top officials have taken a review meeting of Rajgir cricket stadium:
A review meeting on the cricket stadium project was held in Patna, chaired by Development Commissioner Pratyay Amrit. During the meeting, Kumar Ravi, secretary of the Building Construction Department, presented detailed plans for the stadium, covering various aspects of its development.
Pratyay Amrit provided key directives to ensure the stadium meets international standards, focusing on the design and implementation of essential facilities like the pitch, floodlights, drainage systems, pavilions, spectator seating, display screens, parking spaces, and toilets.
He emphasized the importance of creating a venue that could accommodate large crowds and offer modern amenities, especially considering the enthusiasm displayed by both spectators and players during the recent hockey tournament.
“The enthusiasm during the Asian Women’s Hockey Champion Trophy 2024 was remarkable. The cricket stadium should be developed with similar energy and attention to detail,” said Pratyay Amrit.

He stressed that adequate seating and parking arrangements would be critical to managing the large crowds expected during international matches at the venue.

The stadium, designed to accommodate 40,000 spectators, is set to become a landmark for cricket in the state. Construction is in full swing, with practice pitches being developed and the stadium structure slated for completion by March next year.
In a review meeting chaired by Development Commissioner Pratyay Amrit, officials were directed to prioritize consultations with technical teams from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
These consultations will focus on the design and construction of dressing rooms and seating arrangements for players’ families, ensuring adherence to global benchmarks.
Kumar Ravi, Secretary of the Building Construction Department, provided updates, stating, “We are preparing an international-level pitch, and weekly inspections are being conducted to maintain quality and progress.”
Ket officials, including Mahendra Kumar, Director of the Sports and Youth Affairs Department; Rajesh Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary of the Building Construction Department; and Asutosh Kumar Diwedi, Joint Secretary of the Building Construction Department, were present at the meeting, along with engineers overseeing the project.
The stadium aims to elevate Bihar’s presence in international cricket and bolster its reputation as a premier sports destination following the success of the Asian Women’s Hockey Champions Trophy 2024.
