Patna November 13, 2024: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar attempted to touch the feet of PM Narendra Modi during the foundation laying ceremony of AIIMS in Darbhanga on Wednesday.
At the event, As Nitish Kumar approached PM Modi, he quickly stopped him and invited him to sit beside him. This exchange drew considerable attention, with many noting Kumar’s humble and respectful approach while the opposition leaders criticized him.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for visiting Mithilanchal to lay the foundation for AIIMS Darbhanga development projects.
He highlighted the significance of the day, emphasizing that AIIMS Darbhanga would be a milestone in Bihar’s healthcare development, bringing world-class medical facilities to the region.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for visiting Darbhanga and initiating key projects, particularly the foundation of AIIMS Darbhanga.
“I am thankful to the Prime Minister for coming to Darbhanga for these projects. I knew that he would build a world-class healthcare facility here, providing quality medical care to the people of North Bihar, as well as neighboring regions like Nepal, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal,” Kumar said.

The AIIMS in Darbhanga, inaugurated by PM Modi on Wednesday, will span 150.13 acres at the Sobhan-Ekmi bypass road.
This state-of-the-art facility is expected to bring advanced healthcare services closer to the residents of North Bihar and the surrounding areas, significantly reducing their need to travel far for specialized medical treatment.
Reflecting on the progress in Bihar’s healthcare, CM Nitish Kumar recalled, “In 2003, under then-Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the decision was made to establish Bihar’s first AIIMS in Patna which was a pivotal step in improving the state’s healthcare infrastructure.”
Since then, the healthcare system in Bihar has improved significantly, and Darbhanga’s AIIMS further reinforces that progress.”
He added that establishing another AIIMS facility in Darbhanga Would provide greater access to advanced medical services, underscoring the government’s commitment to improving healthcare in the state.
