Great news for commuters: 38 highway patrolling vehicles were flagged off by Nitish Kumar.

Patna October 30, 2024: To enhance safety and security on Bihar’s national and state highways, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched 38 specialized patrolling vehicles in Patna. These vehicles aim to curb illegal activities and provide immediate assistance to road accident victims.

Highway patrolling vehicles are specially designed:

Director General of Police Alok Raj explained that these vehicles are stationed at police stations covering Bihar’s highway and are equipped with stretchers and first aid kits for emergency medical response. They will also transport accident victims to nearby hospitals, ensuring they receive crucial care during the “golden hour” when prompt medical attention can be lifesaving.

The highway patrolling vehicles feature solar-powered systems that automatically recharge essential equipment and are outfitted with over 20 advanced gadgets, including speedometers for detecting speeding and radar systems to monitor traffic violations. Each vehicle can intercept violators and respond to emergencies, enhancing road safety and support across Bihar’s extensive highway network.

Highway patrolling vehicles will be connected with Police Control Room 112:

The officer in charge of each newly launched highway patrolling vehicle in Bihar will actively monitor traffic violations on an in-vehicle screen, enabling them to take immediate action against offenders, including issuing fines. These vehicles, connected to the police control room via the emergency number 112, ensure swift coordination and response in emergencies.

This initiative will help secure Bihar’s major highway, including key routes like Delhi-Kolkata NH-19, Delhi-Siliguri NH-57, Patna-Gaya-Dobhi NH83, Patna-Bakhtiyarpur-Rajauli, Hajipur-Muzaffarpur, and Muzaffarpur-Darbhanga, as well as numerous state highway. The deployment aims to reduce accidents, deter illegal activities, and enhance safety measures across the state’s extensive road network.
