Patna, June 28, 2024: RJD national president Lalu Yadav on Friday targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi after reports emerged of rainwater seepage from the roof of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Posting on X, Lalu Yadav said, “ Religious leaders had forbidden it, but a person hurriedly inaugurated the temple in Ayodhya for his publicity and electoral gain.”
Lalu Yadav claimed the religious leaders opposed the ceremony:
While he did not directly name the Prime Minister, the RJD chief again questioned the timing of the Pran-Pratishtha ceremony held on January 22, 2024, a date some religious leaders had opposed.
He referred to reported remarks of the temple’s chief priest, claiming that the roof above Ram Lalla had begun leaking during the first rains and that the temple premises had other points had water seepage as well.
Lalu Yadav also cited the reported collapse of a sewer on Ram Path and a wall near Ayodhya Dham railway station.
“The chief priest had earlier said that temple construction could not be completed till July 2025, but the inauguration was carried out before that,” Lalu Yadav wrote, adding that the people of Ayodhya know the truth and have taught a lesson to those who exploit people’s sentiments.
Shankaracharya stayed away from the event:
At the time of the Pran Pratishtha, Sankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand of Jyotirmath, Badrika Uttarakhand, had also publicly objected to the Muhurat and had stayed away from the ceremony.
With Lalu Yadav once again raising questions on the inauguration, political observers now await the BJP’s response.
