Patna May 2: Chirag Paswan, the national president of Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas (LJPR) will file the nomination from the traditional seats of his father in Hajipur on Thursday.

Chirag Paswan remembered his father Late Ram Vilas Paswan and also took the blessings of his mother Reena Paswan before heading to the district magistrate cum returning officer of Hajipur.

He is contesting this Lok Sabha election against RJD candidate Shivchandra Ram. Ram lost the election to Pashupati Kumar Paras in 2019 as well.

“This is the first time that I am going to file the nomination without my father. If my father was alive today, he would have been giving me symbols. But today he is not with us, so I am going to file the nomination with his blessings to give a new identity to his workplace. I will fulfill every dream of my father that he had for Hajipur,” Chirag Paswan said.

“The way the people of Hajipur loved and respected my father, I too expect the same kind of love and respect. I do not take any challenge or election lightly,” he said.

Hajipur is a traditional seat of Late Ram Vilas Paswan. He won the election in 1977, 1980, 1989, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2014. He had given the Hajipur seat to his younger brother Pashupati Kumar Paras in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. Paras won that election from Hajipur.
